Utilizzando esclusivamente materiali recuperati, Waste Recycling, con la collaborazione di docenti e studenti dell’Accademia di Belle Arti a Firenze, ha creato oggetti e componenti d’arredo originali, dotati di una propria bellezza: ecco allora un divanetto costruito con icarrelli del supermercato o un vestito fabbricato con i copertoni dei pneumatici, oggetti che nascono da scarti di materia usata, da oggetti buttati, pronti per una seconda vita.
Il progetto vuole offrire alle nuove generazioni uno stimolo a confrontarsi con l’utilizzo di matriali di scarto per creare oggetti d’uso e artistici, e da lì a riflettere sulla nostra civiltà dei consumi, a pensare a nuovi stili di vita intelligenti e creativi.
"Parlare con l’arte" per individuare il lato bello e utile di un rifiuto: è una sfida che coinvolge la nostra società, che da distruttiva può imparare a diventare di nuovo costruttiva.
A settembre 2015 il rapporto con l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze si è concretizzato in una Convenzione che ha dato vita all'Officina SCART allestitta presso la Waste Recycling dove gli studenti dell'Accademia trascorrono alcune settimane l'anno coinvolti in workshop sulla sperimentazione artistica dei rifiuti industriali come materia prima per la realizzazione di opere e installazioni realizzate al 100% di scarti di lavorazione.
